Trauma Informed Care Workshop

With 1 in 4 of our friends and neighbors having suffered from early childhood trauma, it is important to understand the lifelong impacts those experiences have over the lifespan. This Trauma Informed Care workshop will give an overview of what developmental trauma is, how it changes children's brains, the challenges that traumatized children and adults often have, and strategies to help those who have had to live with these experiences.

The trainer of this CASA Cafe, Tracey Heisler, is the executive director of CASA of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties. She holds BA and MA degrees from the University of West Florida in Counseling Psychology with minors in Juvenile Justice and Forensics. Prior to working with CASA SHaW, Tracey served as a Guardian ad Litem in the Florida courts and as a counselor for both adult and juvenile offenders. She has also served as a therapeutic foster parent and a sexual assault/domestic violence victims' counselor.
